Don’t Panic Just Yet
Finding tiny insects, shells, eggs, or mysterious specks inside a sofa can be alarming, especially when bed bugs immediately come to mind. However, many household items and insects can resemble bed bugs at first glance.
Before assuming the worst, it’s important to know what bed bugs actually look like and what signs typically accompany an infestation.
What Bed Bugs Look Like
Adult bed bugs are usually:
- Reddish-brown
- Oval-shaped
- Flat before feeding
- About the size of an apple seed
Young bed bugs (nymphs) are smaller and lighter in color.
You may also find:
- Tiny white eggs
- Shed skins
- Small dark spots (droppings)
These signs often appear near sleeping areas.
