What Are Head Lice?
Head lice are tiny insects that live on the human scalp and feed on small amounts of blood.
They are:
- Very small (about the size of a sesame seed)
- Usually grayish or tan in color
- Unable to jump or fly
- Spread primarily through direct head-to-head contact
Lice are especially common among school-aged children.
