Part 2
When I opened my eyes, I was in a hospital room. Everything hurt, but I was alive.
My first instinct was to place my hand on my stomach.
“My baby…” I whispered.
The doctor gave me a reassuring smile.
“Your baby is safe. You were brought here just in time.”
Tears streamed down my face. Relief flooded over me, followed by one question.
“Who found me?”
Before the doctor could answer, the door opened.
It was my brother, Alex.
Still wearing the clothes he had rushed out in, he looked exhausted, but when he saw me awake, his eyes filled with tears.
“You made it,” he said softly.
“I sent the message…”
“You did,” he replied. “The moment my phone buzzed and I read ‘Help. Please.’, I knew something was terribly wrong.”
Alex, a former Marine who lived only ten minutes away, jumped into his truck and called 911 while driving to the house.
“When I got there, nobody answered the door,” he said. “But I could hear shouting inside. I wasn’t leaving without you.”
Within minutes, the police arrived.
They forced the front door open.
What they found inside shocked even the officers.
The broken phone.
The wooden stick.
Blood on the kitchen floor.
And Victor standing over me.
He was arrested on the spot.
His parents tried to claim it had all been “a family argument,” but Nora’s phone told a different story. The videos she had recorded while laughing were recovered and became powerful evidence.
Over the next few weeks, investigators uncovered years of abuse.
Neighbors admitted they had often heard screaming.
Former friends described Victor’s violent temper.
