The disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie, continues to grip the public more than six months after she vanished from her home near Tucson, Arizona.
Despite an extensive investigation involving the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI, Nancy Guthrie has not been found, and no suspect has been publicly identified or arrested.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen at her residence in the Catalina Foothills area of Tucson on the evening of January 31, 2026. She was reported missing after family members realized she was gone.
Authorities quickly became concerned because she had left behind important personal items, including her phone and medication. The FBI describes her as a vulnerable adult who has difficulty walking, has a pacemaker, and requires daily medication for a heart condition.
Investigators have treated the disappearance as a suspected kidnapping rather than a voluntary departure.
Evidence recovered during the investigation also raised serious concerns about what may have happened inside or near her home.
Surveillance Footage Provided Investigators With a Major Clue
One of the most important pieces of evidence released by authorities has been surveillance footage from the area around Nancy’s home.
The FBI released video showing an armed individual apparently tampering with a camera at Nancy’s front door around the time of her disappearance.
Authorities described the individual as a man approximately 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall with an average build. He was seen wearing a black backpack. Investigators have appealed to the public for help identifying him.
The FBI has emphasized that even seemingly insignificant information could potentially help investigators identify the person involved.
