I Slept at my friends old apartment

I spent two nights staying at a friend’s old apartment, and everything seemed perfectly normal at first. But after the second night, I woke up covered in strange, itchy red bumps all over my body. At first, I thought it might be an allergic reaction, but I hadn’t changed my soap, detergent, or eaten anything unusual. The only thing that was different was where I had been sleeping.

As I started looking into possible causes, I discovered that bed bugs could be responsible. These tiny insects feed on human blood while people sleep and are incredibly difficult to spot because they hide in mattress seams, furniture, cracks in the walls, and other small spaces during the day. Even a clean-looking apartment can have them without anyone noticing right away.

The bites usually appear in clusters or straight lines and are often very itchy. Some people react immediately, while others may not notice the bites until hours or even days later. Interestingly, not everyone reacts the same way, which is why one person in a home may be covered in bites while another has none at all.

If you ever wake up with unexplained itchy bumps after sleeping somewhere new, it’s worth checking for signs of bed bugs. Tiny black spots on bedding, small blood stains on sheets, shed skins, or the insects themselves hiding around the bed can all be clues.

The good news is that bed bug bites usually heal on their own within a week or two. Washing bedding and clothes in hot water, vacuuming thoroughly, and treating the affected areas can help, but larger infestations often require professional pest control to completely eliminate them.

It was definitely an experience I wasn’t expecting, and it reminded me that sometimes the smallest pests can cause the biggest problems. If you’ve ever had something similar happen, you know just how frustrating and uncomfortable it can be.
