3. Sudden Vision Changes
Some people experience:
- Blurred vision
- Double vision
- Loss of vision in one eye
- Difficulty seeing on one side
Even temporary vision loss should never be ignored.
4. Dizziness or Loss of Balance
A stroke can affect the areas of the brain responsible for coordination.
Warning signs include:
- Sudden dizziness
- Trouble walking
- Poor balance
- Loss of coordination
These symptoms are especially concerning if they appear suddenly without another obvious explanation.
5. Severe Headache
A sudden, extremely severe headache—especially one unlike any you’ve had before—may indicate bleeding in the brain.
Seek emergency care immediately if the headache is accompanied by:
- Vision changes
- Vomiting
- Confusion
- Weakness
- Loss of consciousness
6. Sudden Confusion
Confusion that appears suddenly may include:
- Trouble concentrating
- Difficulty following conversations
- Forgetting familiar information
- Feeling mentally “foggy”
If these symptoms appear abruptly, they should be evaluated promptly.
7. Sudden Fatigue or Weakness
Although fatigue alone is not a reliable warning sign of stroke, some people report unusual, overwhelming exhaustion before or during a stroke.
Persistent fatigue has many possible causes, but if it occurs together with other neurological symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.
8. Facial Drooping
A drooping face—especially on one side—is one of the easiest stroke symptoms to recognize.
Ask the person to smile.
If one side doesn’t move normally, call emergency services immediately.
